There is a restlessness on the edges of the country that is perfectly mirrored in the complacency of middle America. Here, members of a new Lost Generation resign themselves to predictable lives, and fill their days with idle pastimes. Driving through the small towns of the midwest, there are signs of the deep roots that people have put down, the ways that they have inherited and perpetuated long family traditions, and the tragic emptiness when those traditions are abandoned.
