On August 21st, 2007, a fire destroyed Micky’s, a popular gay bar in West Hollywood. While the club is hoping to rebuild, one of the casualties of the fire was the regular Monday night drag show, which always drew huge crowds. During the summer before the fire, I met the hostess Raven and she gave me an open invitation to come to the club and take some pictures of the drag queens. Over time, I became a regular and the performers invited me to take pictures of them backstage as well. These photographs tell the story of my experience as an observer at Micky’s.
