Old Post: Tumbleweeds and Horse Trails

Last weekend I went to see No Country for Old Men. I thought the movie was great, and I especially appreciated the cinematography. There's something about the sweeping expanse of ranches, with horses and prairie dogs...well, I'm just a sucker for it.

Horse Trail

Jason took these pictures in Northern California, and he put them on his website with some other ones in a photo essay called "Sonora." Living in LA, I really like these pictures because I feel like I can escape for a moment into something simpler, calmer, and I guess just less smoggy.

Sicko syndrome

I think I have that disease that Michael Moore had in Sicko, where he kind of glamourizes everything French. I kind of wished he had been more forthright in his summary of their system, because he opened up the door to people pointing out the flaws in the French system, and in his reporting. But that's all old news. New news is that I caught the disease when I was in Germany. I mean - here's a pretty bummy guy who sits on the curb drinking wine. But he looks kind of cool to me.

Phone Pole

Like I want to strike up a conversation with him, ask him where he got his jacket, what's in his bag, what he's up to today...
