Order in the universe

I hate to repeat myself, but once again today I just need something quiet. Just a little bit of silence, that's all. In the absence of that, I'm finding some solace in this photo. When I was a kid, I had two favorite car activities: counting American flags (lord, how I've changed) and letting myself be hypnotized by a perfect line of crops. I love how you drive by and can see all the way to the end, turn a little to the left and the right and it's a perfect diagonal. Something about it made me feel all was right with the world. In this picture, it still is. And it's quiet too.

Crops

And it looks like a forever kind of quiet. That makes it all the more peaceful. Beautiful

I was mesmerized by crop rows as a child too. I still catch myself zoning out on them occasionally.

I, too, still like crops. I especially like cotton. So pretty.
What kind of crop are these posts for?

I don't know what kind of crops...but I wish I did. One thing I've never done is gone into a field like this and just sat. It seems like something people do in movies. I wish I could do it now...

I read an interview in a magazine recently (I think it was SEED, a science-cultural magazine) about high-IQ folks. Anyway, this "genius" said his viewpoint was very different because he was always seeing shapes, like triangles and lines and so forth.

I thought, "Who doesn't?"

It's good to be mesmerized by the sights sometimes. I'm reminded slightly of the Cingular commercial where people are seeing "bars" everywhere and therefore getting awesome cell reception....
